Il Podere risale al 1600’ e fu nel corso dei secoli ristrutturato più volte; situato sulle splendide colline del Chianti e alle pendici del Pratomagno, a 500 mt. s.l.m., a breve distanza da Firenze, Siena, SanGimignano, Pisa, Arezzo e Cortona. Appartenuto nei secoli a Nobili e ad Istituzioni Religiose, Podere Ager Mentis offre l’ospitalità in case coloniche e splendidi fienili, tutte recentemente e finemente restaurate per essere adibite a raffinate dimore di campagna. We are still working in researching the history of the Podere throughout the past 4 centuries. We have so far found historical documents certifying the existence of this estate in the years 1600s’; it belonged to Mariano Ceccarelli who donated in 1607 part of it to a religious fraternity called “Compagnia del Rosario”. We have an historical map representing in the year 1820 the Podere, the Convent and the house next to Arcadia and we have found at the Leopoldino Land Office (1800-1940) all the owners throughout those years. What we are still trying to accomplish is to go back from 1820 back to the 1600’s and find out more about the owners and the Estate itself. It is very hard as it was not a custom to document information back in those years. But we will proceed in our research! The Name The original name “Terreno” has been kept at the LandOffice and County for at least over 4 centuries; it represents the residential area that goes from “Podere Ager Mentis, our nextdoor neighboor and the ex convent on the back of Arcadia and Esperidi with all the land surrounding the properties. All through out these centuries the original Estate has been passed or sold from to different owners, to noble families, religious institutions, back to noble families and to humble people. Now after over 4 centuries, the original Estate has 3 owners, and the biggest part is Podere Ager Mentis; since 2003 belongs to Anna e Martino, two professional managers who have desired and searched this place for many years as their main residence and only afterwards, have decided to adapt it as a Tourist Resort in this place of rare beauty. The name of the Podere/Estate was changed by Anna and Martino in “Podere Ager Mentis”, maintaining the original meaning, from latin Ager= Terreno/Earth, but jointly with the word Mentis = Mente/Mind or Cuore/heart or Anima/Soul, as you wish, it means, for us, a feeling of serenity and interior, spiritual, mental wellness conveyed by this naturalistic place of rare beauty. (amazing… while I am writing this “piece”, a bamby/fawn just crossed over the garden and my dogs are going crazy) Podere Ager Mentis represents in our fancy (and we hope it is the same for you) the synthesis of beauty and goodness. These panoramas of evocative beauty which manhood have modelled with an harmonic play of shapes and colours throughout the centuries means learning while observing; because in very few places we have found traces of nature and culture which convey feelings, sensations that open our heart and mind. _________________________________________ A G E R M E N T I S With the objective of identifying the Villas/Apartments/Structures in a unique way, we decided to name each one of them taking the cue from the name of the state and the feelings, views or sensations, from the houses themselves: Arcadia Galatea Esperidi Relaxatio Maya Elai Naiadi Taverna Idra Subscribo Pian di sco.... L'origine del nome Pian di Scò è controversa: secondo alcuni deriverebbe dal torrente  Resco che scorre vicino al paese, Pian di Resco , secondo altri da Pian del rio Scò, Scò da "Aesculus" un tipo di quercia montana  sacra a Giove. Pian di Scò si estende per circa 18 kmq. sulle pendici del Pratomagno tra Arezzo e Firenze; il territorio spazia dai boschi di faggi alle colline terrazzate da ulivi, agli ordinati vitigni. Caratteristica paesaggistica unica è la presenza nella frazione Faella di calanchi o balze, dai tipici riflessi rossastri, fenomeni erosivi dei Pliocene che hanno fatto affiorare resti fossili. Nei primi tre secoli dopo il Mille, Pian di Scò era sotto il dominio delle famiglie feudali dei Pazzi del Valdarno e degli Ubertini; con la costruzione di Castelfranco di Sopra, "terra nuova" voluta dai fiorentini nel 1296 proprio per debellare la potenza di queste casate, anche il villaggio di Pian di Scò entrò a far parte della Lega di Castelfranco e fu aggregato alla Repubblica Fiorentina. Centro di aggregazione religiosa e civile del luogo fu la pieve di Santa Maria a Scò, la cui esistenza risulta documentata fin dai tempi più remoti. L'agricoltura nel passato si giovava della canalizzazione delle acque del torrente Resco che azionavano vari mulini e frantoi nella parte alta del comune; buona era la produzione di vino e olio. La storia di Pian di Scò coincide fino al 1800 con quella della Pieve Romanica di Santa María a Scò, che fu costruita sull'antica strada romana Cassia Vetus (la provinciale dei Sette Ponti), intorno all'anno mille. ...
